With flu season quickly approaching, District 50, St. Anthony North Hospital and Kaiser Permanente are providing free flu shot vaccinations at District 50 schools. The clinics are open to anyone in the community aged 9 and older. Children under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. A cash donation of any amount is appreciated.
The next flu shot clinic is 3-4 p.m. on Nov. 5 at Fairview Elementary School followed by a second at 3:30-4:30 p.m. on Nov. 12 at Metz Elementary School. District 50 employees may get flu shots free of charge at any Kaiser facility. Employees should bring their Kaiser Membership card and a picture ID. No appointment is needed. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the flu peaks in January and February but can begin as early as October.
It takes a while for the person receiving the vaccine to be fully immunized which is why it is important to get shots as early as possible.
