Village Fair offers variety of arts and crafts

The Covenant Village of Colorado Village Fair is Nov. 1-2, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., at 9153 Yarrow St. in Westminster. Organized in a variety of specialty boutiques, the retirement community’s Village Faire will include exquisite crafts made by Covenant Village artisans, Christmas gems, original art in a variety of media, and homemade baked goods. Granny’s Attic of used treasures will include everything from collectibles to china, glass, silver, jewelry, furniture, and much more. Proceeds from the fair are divided among local charities and special projects at Covenant Village. Admission is free. For more information call 303-424-4828.

Councilor receives NLC leadership training honor

Westminster city councilor Mary Lindsey was recognized by the National League of Cities, NLC, for reaching the Platinum level in its Certificate of Achievement in Leadership program. Sponsored by the National League of Cities, the award will be presented in Seattle at the annual Congress of Cities Conference in November. Lindsey is one of the fewer than 171 NLC members to have reached the Platinum level in the Certificate of Achievement in Leadership program since its inception. To reach the Platinum level, a local official must earn 50 credits encompassing five core competency areas of the Certificate of Achievement in Leadership curriculum: cornerstone, competent practitioner, communicator, collaborator and catalyst.

Halloween Carnival set

Enjoy carnival games and prizes, concessions, a spooky jumping castle, games in the pool and much more at this year’s Halloween Carnival 4-7 p.m. on Oct. 26 at City Park Recreation Center. Appropriate for children 10 years and younger. The fee is $4 per child at the door and includes 10 game tickets. Additional tickets are $.25 each. Parents are admitted free. RTD Board of Directors to host telephone town hall meeting

Regional Transportation District Board of Director Larry Hoy will host a live telephone town hall meeting with constituents at 6:15 p.m. on Oct. 28. Residents will be called at random through an automated system and invited to take part in the public telephone forums. Those who choose to join in can learn the latest about bus and light rail service, RTD’s FasTracks transit expansion program and other projects. The dial-in number is 1-877-229-8493 and the PIN number is 112070. During the session, participants can ask questions and use their keypad to answer live polls.
