More business filings go online at Colorado Secretary of State

Business wanted to file certain official documents with the Colorado Secretary of State must do so online, according to new rules.

The state began requiring filings online for Colorado Limited Liability Partnerships and Limited Liability Limited Partnerships to use the Statement of Change Changing the Entity Name form in October. The state also now requires all entities needing to add an attachment to a filed document do that online and all Colorado entities needing to correct something in the company name use Statement of Correction Correcting the Entity Name. Both statements of change still require a $10 filing fee.

A year ago, Colorado Secretary of State Wayne Williams slashed the fee for dissolving a Colorado business from $25 to $10. A year before that, Colorado became the first state in the country to offer free business certification services online so customers didn’t have to mail the office or visit it in person.
