About me

I’ve lived in Colorado since I was 4 years old. I’ve spent most of my life in Northglenn. My husband and I still live in Northglenn, and all three of my kids live in the North Metro area. It’s so great to get to work and live here. It’s just got this small-town, hometown feeling. I feel cozy here.

It’s the best time to work for Northglenn because we’re doing really well. We’re able to do a lot for our residents now. As the community outreach coordinator, I wear a lot of different hats. I think I have the best job in the city because I get to interact with residents, I get to work with churches and businesses, volunteers and all the different departments in the city — police, streets, parks. It’s a great job, and I love it.

Moments of free time

One of my big stress relievers is yard work and gardening. I mostly do flowers. I’m gone so much with work that I don’t really have the time to care for a vegetable garden. Plus one of our golden retrievers is young and would eat everything. I just like being outside and trimming and mowing.

I’m also proud to say I’m a board member on North Metro Fire. This is my second term. It’s been really interesting. There are so many cool people who work there, and it’s been really neat to learn about them.

Some of the most interesting things I’ve done

I’m married to my high school sweetheart; we’ve been married 38 years. Being a mom has been the most rewarding job I will ever do in my life. Being a mom, being a wife, being a grandma are top on my list.

Going through Fire Ops 101 was probably almost as hard as going through childbirth for me. It’s like a day in the life of a firefighter. I had to put on full bunker gear, including the air tank, the helmet and the mask and carry an ax. I truly thought that was going to be my last day on earth crawling through our training center house. They can simulate fire, smoke and everything. That really pushed me physically and mentally, but I lived through it.

My favorite holiday

Christmas! It’s a great family time. I love getting to go to Christmas Eve church, cooking at home, Christmas trees, dishes and ornaments. On the work side, we do a holiday food, clothing and bike program. We gave away over 600 bikes and truckloads of food and clothing last Christmas. It just fills my heart to be able to make that holiday a little brighter for families.
