Front Range Community College punctuated their 50th anniversary at the Westminster Campus Aug. 29 by hosting a hot air balloon and letting students and faculty have a tethered 50 fioot flight.
Cathy Pellish, vice president of the campus, said the college first opened in Sept. 1968 as Community College of Denver North and classes were held at 62nd and Downing.
The college plans a variety of events to celebrate the anniversary, including the Sept. 13 Taste of College open house.
“We want to invite everyone from the community in to see what we’re all about,” Pellish said.
