Local credit union Premier Members is doubling down on its annual holiday giving drive, offering some housing help for the New Year.
Premier Members Credit Union announced in November that if it the Artisans of Giving campaign raises $60,000 by Dec. 13, the credit union will match those funds and give one giver a chance to win $50,000 to pay their mortgage or rent in 2020.
Premier Gives is partnering with the United Way to join the fight to support education, health, and financial stability for everyone in our community.
“Holidays are a good time to remember to take care of each other and our communities,” said Andrea McDermott, corporate responsibility and sustainability representative for the credit union.
As part of the 46th Annual Mile High United Way Turkey Trot, Premier Gives made a difference by uniting with individuals, nonprofits, businesses, and government partners to change the odds for those who need it in the community.
“We reflect the needs of the community when we work together,” McDermott said. “Credit Unions are nonprofits and the success of its membership is based on the success of the community.”
Many organizations — banks, grocery stores, schools and public service organizations as well as the people who plow our roads and provide utilities — contribute to the social fabric and health of our lives. McDermott said she’s proud to be part of that tradition.
This is the second year PMCU is participating in the Artisans of Giving event. Both individuals and businesses can contribute on the online platform through December 13. The more that is given, the more raffle tickets will be given to enter a drawing for a chance to win $50,000 towards one’s mortgage or rent paid in 2020.
To donate now, visit the Artisans of Giving campaign online at http://www.pcmu.org/givingevent. The winner’s name will be announced the week of December 16.
Other opportunities to give are on the horizon. PMCU is hosting its annual Sock Drive to benefit Attention Homes where new unworn socks or funds to purchase them will be accepted until Jan. 3.
The credit union also doing a pop-up volunteer event for staff to make more than 300 sandwiches to benefit Attention Homes’ outreach program. Attention Homes is a safe resource for youth in crisis providing safe shelter, case management, and wraparound services.
