Premier Gives is offering three ways to help the community with three separate fundraising opportunities — a Sock Drive, Artisans with Giving Campaign, and Birthday Bags.
Andrea Balazs, corporate responsibility and sustainability representative for Premier Members Credit Union, said there’s so much we can do to make a difference in the community year-round.
“Whether or not you’re a member of the Premier Members Credit Union, you can contribute socks, funds, cake mix, frosting, candles, or a small toy,” Balazs said.
The Sock Drive opened Dec. 3 and will continue through Dec. 21.
New unworn socks or funds to purchase them will be accepted. Donations will go towards charities, such as the Hope House of Colorado and Attention Homes. Hope House of Colorado provides free self-sufficiency programs to teen moms, including residential, GED, and college and career programs. Attention Homes is a safe resource for youth in crisis providing safe shelter, case management, and wraparound services so that homeless and displaced youth can become stable, independent members of the community and achieve their potential.
In addition to the Sock Drive, Premier Gives is running the Artisans with Giving Campaign, which invites members and non-members alike to donate funds that benefit the Foothills United Way.
“We’re excited to offer those who donate have a chance to get their mortgage paid for a year,” Balazs said. “We’ve raised $20,000 to date already and people can continue to contribute through January 4.”
Food banks and food pantries are also asking for items you would not normally think of donating: cake mix, frosting, candles and a small toy.
Balazs said it is a way to help families celebrate birthdays. These items will benefit Broomfield Fish, Partners Mentoring Youth, Covenants Cupboard, Hope House, and many charities within Westminster and beyond, from Estes Park to Firestone to Castle Rock.
Premier Members Credit Union is one of the largest credit unions in Colorado. A not-for-profit financial cooperative based out of Boulder Colorado, Premier Members CU serves members in Adams, Boulder, Broomfield, Denver, Jefferson, Larimer and Weld Counties.
Westminster branches are located in Summit Square, 8440 Federal Blvd. and at 2921 W 120th Ave.
The effort was recently awarded the Mountain West Associate Credit Union Community Impact Award.
“The Community Impact Award recognizes a credit union program that has positively affected the community, specifically outreach,” Balazs said. “Our program includes tracking employee volunteer hours, funding for the community, and scholarship programs,” she said.
