Letter to the editor: How effective would they be?

Given the multiplicity of new so-called ‘gun control’ measures, now being trumpeted by public figures; had they presently been in force, would they have identified, much less impeded the assassins responsible for last weekend’s shootings?
Isn’t the resultant evermore-control-hysteria merely being used as a smokescreen to put all Americans more firmly under our government’s boot?
Will the call for knife-control be next, as is the present case in London, UK?
