Mason right choice for DA
I have been privileged to know Brian Mason, the Democratic District Attorney candidate for Judicial District 17, for more than 20 years.
As a fellow attorney, I tried very hard to talk Brian out of going to law school and I am thrilled that he didn’t pay attention to me. He is one of the most intelligent and finest men that I have known.
As an attorney, I am supporting him because he has the integrity, honesty, compassion, and skills needed. Brian Mason is the right person for JD17, which serves Adams County and parts of Broomfield. His motto is to do “The Right Thing, All Of The Time, No Matter What”.
He has been a prosecutor in the District Attorney’s office for 13 years and manages 30 prosecutors in that office.
Community safety will be his first priority, while still serving the most vulnerable. He will require independent investigations for any officer-involved shooting and will create a civilian review board to increase transparency. He will correct inequities within his department and with community interactions. These include elimination of the school to prison pipeline, alternative programs to incarceration, and expansion of an already successful Diversion Program for first time non-violent offenders, as well as more specialty courts.
My friend, Brian Mason, is the person to lead the District Attorney’s office in JD17 to keep our communities safer with just treatment for victims and the accused. I urge you to vote for Brian Mason in November.
Susan Laatsch, J.D.,
McCormack for DA
As a former District attorney for the 17th Judicial District, Adams and Broomfield Counties, I am supporting Republican Tim McCormack for DA, even though I was elected three times as a Democrat, and I want to tell you why.
I hired Tim in 1999, mentored him, tried a complex murder case with him, and have followed his career since I left the office in 2005. I know Tim to be a man of integrity, energy, and commitment who combines the best attributes of a skilled prosecutor and deft administrator. He is attuned to the times and understands the benefits of diverting minor offenders out of the system and providing treatment to those who will accept it.
I have watched as the office I once led with pride has been embroiled in scandal and deteriorated under the mismanagement of the current administration. Attorneys and support staff have left in droves and respect has been lost among law enforcement and court personnel. It is past time for a change and I just don’t believe meaningful change can come from within.
In my opinion, Tim McCormack is the best person to restore integrity, dignity, and accountability to the office of the District Attorney of the 17th Judicial District. VOTE, it’s important. Thanx for listening.
