City Council candidates filling petitions to win spots on Nov. 5 ballots

Candidates for municipal seats on the City Councils across the Northern Metro area began their march to November’s ballot Aug. 6, collecting signatures to win a spot on the ballot.

Voters go to the polls Nov. 5. As an odd-year, it means a ballot heavy on City Council seats and municipal issues.

The rules are very similar throughout the area. Candidates must collect at least 25 valid signatures from registered voters in their district to get on the ballot.

In Federal Heights, Northglenn and Thornton, candidates for City Council seats must collect signatures from voters in their Ward to get on the ballot.

For mayoral candidates and all City Council candidates in Westminster, candidates can collect the signature at-large from anywhere in their city.

Across the area, candidates have until the end of August to collect their signatures.

Here are the candidates trying to get on November’s ballot in the Metro North area.
